This is a unique case of isolated lateral fracture/dislocation of the condylar process in a 3-year-old child injured on an escalator. Immediate closed reduction under general anesthesia successfully restored condylar height and premorbid dental occlusion. Maxillomandibular fixation was not used because mandibular mobilization was encouraged. Clinical follow-up confirmed maintenance of normal dental occlusion and temporomandibular joint function. © 2011 by Mutaz B. Habal, MD.
