Abstract

Aims 1) to describe structure & occurrence of Yanyula nouns, and 2) to show extent to which culture directs the language; semantic classification into 4 types (including kinship terms, corroboree names, personal names, place names etc.); grammatical and phonological conditioning, permissible simplification; influence of kinship on language; noun stems; distribution into clause level tagmemes; based on field work at Borroloola and Doomadgee, between 1963 and 1969
