Abstract

This chapter reviews the development of quick-reference databases, including bibliographical databases, non-bibliographical databases, and news databases. Examples of factual query, directory information, search in biography master indexes, and other searches are included. The benefits which flow from encouraging quick-reference searches online are reviewed.
