Abstract

This paper describes the Decision-Making Trial andEvaluation Laboratory (DEMATEL) method and itsapplicability in the field of management. DEMATELapplies matrices and digraphs for visualizing thestructure of complicated causal relationships. Thistechnique can be used to generate a strategy map,representing organizational strategy and showingcausal relations between causes and their effects.DEMATEL can suggest the most important criterion,which affects other criteria. Applicability of thisapproach is widespread, ranging from analyzing worldproblematique decision making to industrial planning.The most important property of DEMATEL method usedin the multi- criteria decision making (MCDM) field isto map the interrelations between criteria
