Abstract

This paper explains why suicide bombing has been effective in some conflictswhile in others it has been rejected or abandoned. What motivates organizations toemploy violence, and how suicide terrorism inflames or responds to public opinion? Byunderstanding the dynamics of suicide bombing, we are better able to devise strategies tocombat it.
