Abstract

Discusses a conception of group violence on the analysis of 4 instances: the Holocaust, the genocide of the Armenians, the "autogenocide" in Cambodia, and the disappearances in Argentina. The author applies the conception to other cases, like the mass killing in Bosnia and the genocide in Rwanda. A brief discussion of prevention is presented. The author applies the conception to the understanding of instances in which instigators to group violence were present but did not lead to intense violence.
