Abstract

Measurements and calculations of interferometrically demodulated phase noise in HeNe lasers are reported. The spectrum of this phase noise closely related to the optical source spectrum. The results obtained show that the Mach-Zehnder interferometer is a good lab instrument for analyzing high-resolution spectra. Theoretical results on semiconductor lasers used in optical communication are also presented.
