Hydration and core temperature in a football player during preseason: a case study

Abstract

Sweat rates in large football linemen can reach 3.9 L/hr, and sweat losses can exceed 14 L/day.; Football players can be chronically dehydrated during preseason when practices occur two times per day on consecutive days.; Sodium replacement is necessary during preseason in football players who sweat heavily.
