Fibre and fabric trends of 2001/2 were on show at Expofil 2000, held in Paris in June. Blended yarns and fabrics were a major theme, in particular the combination of natural yarns with synthetic components. Lycra-blend knits produced some of the most innovative goods, while easy-care wool and artibacterial finishes continue to be developed. Other trends identified include intricate designs and use of trims, natural looks (eg tweeds in lightweight yarns) and the 'biological' look which includes raised textures.
