Abstract

Extensive low-level aeromagnetic flights have covered almost half the Arctic ocean basin, while satellite missions have encompassed the entire region (except around the North Pole). These data sets reveal the age, nature and tectonic relations between the major physiographic features of the Arctic. The Alpha and Lomonosov ridges are continental, sea-floor spreading has occurred in the Amerasian, Makarov and Canada basins. These magnetic data set the framework for Arctic tectonics. © 1983.
