Abstract

The article analyzes the distinct form of expansion that mobile sector has experienced in Mexico in the context of the Latin American region. The transformation of the Spanish firm Telefonica and the Mexican group Telemex-America Movil into central actors in the regional market as an outcome of national champion policies implemented in their home countries as well as the business strategies these firms followed to attain this position is presented.
