Abstract

(i) Systematic notes are provided on the "large" Neotropical (plus Mexico) Rhantus species; i.e.: antarcticus GERMAIN, atricolor AUBE, calidus F., limbatus AUBE, orbignyi BALKE (= nitidus BRULLE), and validus SHARP. - (ii) Three of these species; i.e., antarcticus, limbatus as well as orbignyi are referred to as a monophyletic group while phylogenetic relations of the others remain unknown. - (iii) A checklist of Neotropical Rhantus is provided.
