Abstract

This study utilized Beavers Systems Model’s concepts to examine family system functioning as related to Millon’s personality types. College students completed a demographics questionnaire, the Self-Report Family Inventory (SFZ), and the Personality Adjective Checklist (PACL). For six of the nine personality scales on the PACL, the Health Competence and Cohesion factors on the SFl accounted for a significant proportion of variance. Poorer family heal the competence was associated with higher personality scale scores for three of the nine personality scales. Curvilinear relationships between family style and the personality scales were not found for this normal population. The findings may have implications for the understanding of Personality disorders. © 1996, Taylor & Francis Group, LLC. All rights reserved.
