Some considerations about ageing in Cephalopods

Abstract

The main theories of ageing are reviewed. A genetically programmed ageing theory is proposed to explain the short life-span of most cephalopod species. Different experiments are proposed to test that theory, and the advantages of cephalopods as experimental material for such studies are summarized.
