Abstract

(from the book) [describes a] program of including children in the residental treatment of their substance-abusing mothers / [recognizes] how mothering is often a strong incentive to get off drugs and onto other aspects of life / presents a feminist approach to the treatment of substance abuse in women, explaining why standard approaches for men do not address critical issues for women / women's experiences of being exploited and demeaned as children play an important role in their substance abuse, and their recovery may be strongly motivated by offering their children a different experience (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2012 APA, all rights reserved).
