Abstract

In classroom scenarios that feature one teacher for many students, students usually fail to keep up with the teacher because it is not physically possible for the teacher to answer all student questions. As a result many students leave the classroom with many unasked questions. Students usually seek help from their classmates during non-class hours. In this research we designed a class that gives students discussion time with their classmates during class hours. We compared the effectiveness of such a class with the standard one where the teacher uses the entire class to teach. We experimentally evaluated the comprehension of the students about their lessons. Their scores in the class where the teacher provided discussion time exceeded the standard type of class. ©2012 IEEE.
