(from the chapter) This chapter presents a brief description and history of the School Success Profile (SSP), a strengths-based assessment tool for informing, monitoring, and evaluating social work interventions with middle and high school students. The Eco-Interactional Developmental (EID) model of school success, which provides the conceptual foundation for the SSP, is then reviewed as a perspective for understanding the interplay between students' neighborhoods, schools, families, and peers in the promotion of school success. Major findings from SSP-related research examining these domains and their effects on students' school success are also presented. The role of the SSP in the process of intervention planning is discussed, and a case example from a small, private school for low-income students with less-than-satisfactory academic achievement is presented illustrating the utility of the SSP. The chapter concludes with how the SSP can be used within a Response to Intervention (RTI) framework. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2016 APA, all rights reserved).
