Abstract

Examines the relationship between the level of violence among young partners, indicators related to the family context (witnessing marital violence, physical punishment, affection, and justice attributed to parents), and the preference for some partner characteristics (attractiveness, communication, ability to defend his/her opinion). A sample of 1,146 students was surveyed. The results showed significant differences between fathers and mothers on marital behavior, but not among young partners. The lineal regression analyses reveal the factors that predicted violence in young partners. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2012 APA, all rights reserved).
