Abstract

This contribution with an empirical focus analyses typical Web 2.0 services from the perspective of their use in academia. In particular social networking services such as ResearchGATE, Wikipedia as a tool for and by scientists, research blogging, microblogging like Twitter, and finally social tag- ging like Delicious and Zotero. The preliminary conclusion is that all of these new services are used in academia to varying degrees. 1
