It should be obvious by now that this minute inflow of stimulus energy does not consist of discrete inputs-that stimulation does not consist of stimuli. The flow is continuous. There are, of course, episodes in the flow, but these are nested within one another and cannot be cut up into elementary units. Stimulation is not momentary. (J. J.
