Abstract

Numerical methods for the economic development of a centrifugal pump impeller on the basis of given performance parameters for volume flow, head and rotational speed are described. On the basis of the flow conditions at the impeller inlet and outlet, which are established using one-dimensional theory, the impeller geometry is calculated in relation to the continuity equation. The numerical simulation of three-dimensional, viscous flow is used to evaluate the impeller blading. The method was applied to the design of an impeller in an 11-stage double suction high-pressure pump.
