Abstract

The design of a lighting system which incorporates adequate illumination levels and low energy consumption with excellent visual comfort probability for 10 new elementary schools in the San Diego Unified School district is described. It is shown that uniform lighting levels in direct task areas of classrooms can be achieved with checkerboard mounting pattern and widespread distribution of luminaires.
