Abstract

I have a second request that is also related to this idea of engaging students with special collections. I would like to take a poll to find out who is actively scanning materials from local music special collections for inclusion in the Internet Archive. I assume that many institutions have some form of liaison with the Internet Archive and that many have scanning labs devoted to this effort. Who out there is working on specific music projects? Are any of your projects organized with the aim to scan an entire special collection or portions thereof? What other priorities are driving the selection of materials to scan? Will the scans be organized in an interface other than the IA? Are the scans being tagged for a particular IA collection? Are you coordinating your scanning with any collaborative institutions or collections? I will be happy to provide a summary of the information I receive. Thanks, David Day david_day@byu.edu
