There has been a recent boom in modern societies with respect to the preoccupation with one's body image. The purpose of this study was to develop an inventory that could serve as a screening tool for the body image that Puerto Rican female adolescents have, given the fact that the adolescent population is one of the most affected by the eating disorders that are related to this concept. The inventory, which consists of 50 items in a 5-point Likert Scale, was administered to a sample composed of 102 Puerto Rican female adolescents. After the administration, the initial validation process of the inventory initiated. The Cronbach Alpha reliability coefficient for the inventory was r=0.83 and the internal consistency coefficient given by Spearman Brown was r=0.79, which indicate that the inventory has adequate consistency within the scale.
