Abstract

The author examines the developinent and reception of two British feature films in the context of changing British perceptions of Germany. Went the Day Well? and The Eagle Has Landed share the same basic plot line but involve contrasting moral positions, reflecting a major evolution in British attitudes between the 1940s and the 1970s.
