Abstract

There are different water reservoir tanks such as septic tanks, agricultural water storage tanks and fire protection tanks. The water level of a water reservoir tank in outdoor environment changes depending on weather conditions. In the case of heavy rains, the water level rises leading to flooding. Therefore, it is necessary to monitor the water reservoir tank and predict the overflow in order to reduce the flood damages. However, it is difficult to install the water level gauge depending on the installation environment at the water reservoir tanks. Therefore, we consider to calculate the water level from a distant place by triangulation. In this paper, we propose a method for measuring the water level of a water reservoir tank based on triangulation using two cameras. We carried out some experiments and the experimental results shows that even if the water level in the water reservoir tank changes significantly, it is possible to measure the change. Thus, the proposed method is able to measure the water level in the water reservoir tank.
