Abstract

Advances in microarray technology open new challenges in datacollection, analysis and interpretation, In this review paper, we focuson issues related to obtaining trustworthy normalized data and resultsof differential expression analysis. In particular, we brieflysummarize discussions on sources of biological and technologicalvariation, experimental design, design of arrays, normalization anderror models, differential expression and multiple comparison issues. These issues remain major bottlenecks to developing standards andobtaining useful and applicable results of future analysis such ascluster analysis, network modeling, etc.
