Building Information Modeling (BIM) emergence, in a field already tense by heavy socio-environmental transitions and limited means to cope with it, embodies both a deep and costly transformation of real estate exploitation activities, as well as an opportunity to improve the management of buildings energy efficiency. This research, carried out as part of a broader Ph.D. work addressing BIM adoption for assisted urban renewal operations, uses system dynamics to investigate the relationships between the energy and digital mutations of a building stock through four decision-making scales: (i) user, (ii) building, (iii) housing stock, (iv) urban area. This paper focuses on the modeling of the building level as a key development of the overall subject. Four thematic interconnected sub-models composing this building level are provided, regarding building technical performance (i.e., energy), building information modeling, financial balance, and human resources management. By providing an insight into the long-term behavior evolution of existing building condition within different initial and operational conditions of exploitation, refurbishment and digitization activities, the outcomes from this study will feed further developments of the other decision-making levels.
