Complex decisions are often modeled as processes that act as a guide for decision making. This however result in a serious lack of tracability, maintainability and difficulties during the (re)design of the decision. To solve this issue we propose an approach to start from real known decision structures (like decision table hierarchies) and transform these into process models. The modeling of a decision happens by means of a decision-goal tree which is closely related to the structure of decision tables. This decision-goal tree is then transformed into several process models which are evaluated and compared to each other by some criteria. © 2011 Springer-Verlag.
