Abstract

A 57-year-old female scheduled for right mastectomy presented for evaluation 10 days prior to surgery. On the referral letter, she was described as "super morbidly obese" with a weight of 151.5 kg and a BMI of 63.4. She had a history of hypertension, hypothyroidism, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) for which she used a continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) machine nightly. She had been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes 6 years previously.
