Digitalisation is increasingly affecting our daily behaviour including travel behaviour. With the advanced technologies, sharing mobility have been introduced to transport users, for instance, the ride-hailing services. The advantages of these service have significantly influence on the way people moving around the cities and changing mobility behaviour, especially in the core city centre where the development of public transport service is very limited. Although having short and dense road network and very narrow cross-sections, there is a great travel demand in Hanoi core city centre areas. The excessive usage of private vehicles leads to serious congestion, environmental pollution and affect the quality of life. The objective of this study is to investigate the unique characteristics of urban and transport development and evaluate the impact of digitalisation on travel behaviour in Hanoi Old Quarter Area. The results show that ride-hailing services having significant impacts on mode-shifting for certain trip purposes. Business trips have the highest percentage of mode-shifting from car taxies to ride-hailing car service, whereas studying trips having a big number of mode-shift from motorcycle taxi to ride-hailing motorcycle services. Such empirical evidences are beneficial for transport planners and transport authorities in providing sufficient strategies and policies for sustainable transport.
