Abstract

The objective of this chapter is to describe the surgical technique for the vascular anastomoses in uterus transplantation (UTx) and some of the complications that may occur. Solid organ transplantation is to a large part vascular surgery, based on techniques described during the early 1900. Alexis Carrel (1907) developed many of the organ transplantation modalities still used until this day, an achievement that resulted in the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1912. The surgical technique includes choosing a relevant site for the placement of the donor organ. This will largely determine how one will design the anastomoses and what vessel of the recipient to use.
