Abstract

The district incorporating the Hekikai Formation, formed during the Riss glacial to early Wurm glacial period in deltaic environments is one of the rare places in Japan where sea level and paleo-environmental changes can be identified. The author has surveyed the stratigraphy and subsurface structure, fossil diatom assemblages, chemical analyses of FeS2 concentration, and ESR (Electron Spin Resonance) dating for the Hekikai Formation by analyzing numerous boring and well data and examines the relationship between sea level fluctuation and sediments around the Nishimikawa Plain. -from English summary
