Abstract

The study examined the impact of National University Commission (NUC) accreditation exercise on university administrative structure of four selected Nigerian universities between 1995 and 1999. Data were collected through questionnaires administered to 400 staff and 200 students of four Nigerian universities. hypothesis was generated for the study. The two sets of questionnaires-one for the students and the other for staff were used to elicit information from the respondents. The responses were tested at 0.05 level of significance using chi-square statistics. The study revealed that the accreditation exercise had no impact on administrative structure (X 2 c = 70.30, X 2 t = 12.59, df = 6, p<0.05) and efficiency of university staff (X 2 c = 35.55; X 2 t = 24.99; df = 15; p<0.05). Based on the findings of this study, recommendations were made.
