Abstract

This paper describes the main requirements and key issues that are related with the design of active protections for robotic arms. A literature overview is reported to give insight on the existing solutions and challenges. Then, a novel design concept is proposed and a 3D CAD design is reported and described in order to show the feasibility and practical usefulness of a novel active protection for robot arms that is expected to provide improvements also in the interaction between human beings and robots.
