Abstract

Titanium dioxide (TIO2) nanorod/nanoflower was prepared using hydrothermal method and annealed at different temperatures. The samples were characterized using Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FE-SEM), X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) and customized waste water treatment device in order to observe the surface morphology, structural properties and photo degradation activity, respectively. The efficiency of the TIO2 nanorod/nanoflower for waste water treatment was investigated using the waste water treatment device. A device with rotating mechanism was designed and developed in order to stir the textile waste water using the TIO2 nanorod/nanoflower. The effectiveness of the treatment process was observed using the Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) and Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD) tests. The objectives of this project were successfully achieved in which annealing temperature of 500 °C presented the most optimum results.
