Abstract

Ultrafast dynamics of a quasi-one-dimensional halogen bridged mixed valence metal complex (HMMC) is studied by the pump-probe spectroscopy extending over 0.5-2.5 eV. Just after the photo-excitation, non-thermal self-trapped excitions (STE's) are generated as well as charged solitons. The non-thermal STE's have two relaxation channels to thermal STE's and spin solitons.
