Insulin secretion and carbohydrate metabolism in patients with Laron syndrome: From hypoglycemia to diabetes mellitus

Abstract

Untreated Laron syndrome patients have symptomatic and asymptomatic hypoglycemia, but with progressing age some develop relative insulin resistance, glucose intolerance, even diabetes mellitus with its complications. IGF-I treatment increases insulin sensitivity and improves the HbA1c. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2011.
