EKSTRAK MENGKUDU (Morinda citrifolia L) SEBAGAI ANTIMICROBA TERHADAP Streptococcus viridans SECARA IN VITRO (THE NONI EXTRACT (Morinda citrifolia L) AS ANTIMICROBA TOWARD Streptococcus viridans IN VITRO)

Abstract

Streptococcus viridans infection is serious if those bacteria enter other areas of the body such as the bloodstream, it can cause endocarditis, heart damage and kidney failure. The Symptoms are fatigue, fever, weight loss, shock, organ failure, insufficient blood, Intra-abdominal infections, meningitis, and swelling of the meninges even death. Bacteria cause 50% of cases endocarditis. Treatment with high-do design se antibiotics is dangerous, it can cause resistance. Noni (Morinda citrifolia) as antiviral, antibacterial, antiinflammatory has 150 contents of phytonutrients to increase endurance and improve cell. The objectives of this study were to know the MIC and MBC of noni extract and penicillin to Streptococcus viridans in vitro. The research design is true experiment, with RAL design, and bacteria sample and noni extract. Free variables are concentration of noni extraction, penisillin 5μL, 7.5 μL and 10 μL. The variable depends on the amount of bacteria. Research location is in Laboratory Microbiology and Bio Medical University Muhammadiyah of Malang. Method of research is agar plate dilution. The data were Collected though the number of colonies Streptococcus viridans, One-Way Anova analysis. The result of the study is MIC 5μL and MBC 10 μL. The result of analysis is p = 0.00 <0.01, Ho is rejected, Hi is accepted. It means noni extract and penicillin against Streptococcus viridans as antimicrobial compound in vitro is effective. Effectiveness is shown by regression linear noni 63.8% and pensillin 63.9% in inhibiting the growth Streptococcus viridans in vitro.
