This study aims to investigate the effect of the approach (narrative format versus nonnarrative format) off news about immigrant deportation towards immigration attitudes. Specifically, it seeks to analyze the mediating role of the empathic emotions and narrative engagement, in the effect caused by the news on the participants. This is an investigation of an experimental nature with two treatment groups, which has had a sample of 102 college students assigned to each of the conditions at random. The results show that, when reporting about events related to immigrants, news with narrative format will trigger emotional processes in the audience that will result in more beneficial attitudes and opinions.
