Abstract

Trauma, tumors, and infections requiring resection leave orthopedic surgeons a problem to deal: bone defects. Bone defect management is a long-lasting topic, and different treatment strategies are suggested. Currently, segment transport techniques are accepted as gold standard for extensive defects. In the last decade, various treatment approaches are popularized. In this chapter, both segment transport and more recent techniques such as vascularized grafting or cage reconstruction are presented.
