Critical thinking skills will stimulate students' cognitive reasoning in acquiring knowledge. In the learning process, 4th students at SD Negeri Purbayan 02 show students' ability to think critically when learning activities are low and tend to be passive. This study aims to describe the application of the discovery learning model to improve the critical thinking skills of 4th grade students at SD Negeri Purbayan 02. The research method uses classroom action research with 30 students as subjects. Data collection techniques using observation, questionnaires, and tests. The analysis technique uses quantitative techniques and qualitative techniques. The results showed that the application of the discovery learning model was proven to improve the critical thinking skills of 4th grade students at SD Negeri Purbayan 02. This was evidenced by the increased observation results from the pre-cycle, first cycle, and second cycle, namely the class average of 1.91; 1.95; and 2.41. Similar to the results of the questionnaire, in the initial conditions the average value of 63.38 increased to 82 after being given the action. This data is corroborated by the results of the precycle, 1st cycle, and 2nd cycle tests, namely the class average of 56.4; 74.3; and 84.2.
