Abstract

The structural kinetics of photo-induced elimination reaction of 1,2-diiodotetrafluoroethane in solution is examined by transient X-ray diffraction. The structure of.CF2CF2I is determined to be a classical mixture of anti and gauche forms and their decay mechanism is also tracked in real time.
