Abstract

Although the concept of using video games in education has been present for decades, it is only lately that consistent attempts of games entering the classroom can be observed. This paper describes the process of developing a game that aims to assist Junior High-School pupils in learning English as a foreign language in class. The learning goals, the design, as well as the initial realisation of the game are described. Finally, conclusions are drawn and further development ideas are discussed. © 2011 Springer-Verlag.
