Abstract

Three new species of the plant bug subfamily Isometopinae are described from Japan: Paloniella parallela, Myiomma kukai, and M. takahashii. A new genus, Astroscopometopus, is proposed to accommodate a little known Japanese species, Isometopidea gryllocephala Miyamoto, Yasunaga & M. Hayashi, and the male adult and very remarkable final instar nymph are also described. A checklist of the Japanese isometopine taxa is provided, in which Isometopus mahal (Distant) is reported from Japan for the first time.
