The text aims to analyze an activity assigned to a professor of higher education in Brazil: the production of knowledge. It begins with the characterization of teachers' work today. Discusses the politics of post-graduate already implemented in the country, the proposed induction and evaluation of this educational level. In the end, it analyzes the academic productivity and its impacts on the act of investigating, especially in humanities and social sciences.
