The study focuses on improving senior people’s using experience on public rest facilities. By means of field observation, Chinese senior people’s rest behaviors are analyzed and three kinds of rest postures are underlined. Analytic Hierarchy Process is used to clarify the merits and drawbacks of the three postures from different evaluation dimensions and discover the posture most suitable for senior people. On the premise of this result, questionaires are sent out to collect senior people’s demands for rest facilities and the subjects are asked to assess the demands perceptually to quantify the problems. Using factor analysis and regression model to mine the factors that influence the use of rest facilities significantly, which are postures, exterior and danger. Based on the results, design is proposed targetedly. The design proposal takes Chinese senior people’s body size and application circumstances into consideration so that senior people’s using experience can be optimized.
