This is a report and an analysis of an experimental project I recently began with Johanna Drucker at U. of Virginia. We have been calling it "Metalogics of the Book". Briefly, it involves using computers to explore how the graphic features of textual documents function in a signifying field. The experiment analyzes and manipulates such graphic features through mark?up protocols (page description languages, tags) and other computer tools (OCR)
