Abstract

Many companies expatriate employees to other countries to expand their business worldwide. This enables them to increase the global mobility of their human resources and build competitiveness. Therefore, it is essential to ensure that the management of this expatriation is efficient and fruitful, and that the company and their global talents reach their goals. Potential practical steps to develop the international assignment process have here been identified in a literature review, and interviews with human resource professionals highlight possibly vital improvements. By connecting the management of international assignments and global talent management, this chapter opens up new perspectives for future research.
