Abstract

Adaptive applications are not well defined in literature, and are usually confused with other sorts of applications. In this chapter we try to capture common properties of these applications into an informal definition. Then later come up with a formal definition on the basis of a comprehensive set of attributes. This domain-independent definition of adaptive applications is then employed and exemplified in the field of IT-based Service Systems Management. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2014.
